Video: Daredevils Climb the Eiffel Tower

It's been awhile since we've seen a good urban climbing video, but this one emerged yesterday. It features a couple of daredevils climbing the Eiffel Tower, and capturing some impressive footage along the way. Of course, this is extremely dangerous – not to mention highly illegal – but it sure makes for an intriguing video. Definitely don't try this at home for a wide variety of reasons. Instead, sit back and let these guys do it instead.

Video: Urban Downhill Mountain Bike Racing Captured by Drone

The Red Bull Valparaiso urban downhill mountain biking race always produces dramatic footage, but we've never seen it from this vantage point before. This clip features a drone chasing pro rider Stevie Smith through the tight and technical course that tests him at ever turn. The footage will give you even more respect for these riders, who face challenges that are very different from a typical trail.

Video: Climbing the World's Tallest TV Tower

We've seen some impressive urban climbing videos recently, but this one might take the cake. It takes us up what is purportedly the tallest television tower in the world, standing 475 meters (1558 ft) in height. It took the climber 2.5 hours to reach the top, and another 1.5 hours to descend without using any kind of safety gear. That seems pretty crazy to me, but impressive none the less. Check it out below.

Video: Climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza

A few days ago I posted a video of an urban climber ascending a tower in Dubai. Today, we have another urban climber, but this time he's going up one of the most iconic structures ever built - the Great Pyramid at Giza. The view from the top is pretty spectacular, but I have some pretty mixed emotions about this one. Hopefully this doesn't become a trend, as these pyramids are over 4500 years old and are the last of the Seven Wonders of the World that remain. Keeping people from damaging them should be a priority.

Video: Urban Climber Takes on Tallest Residential Building in the World

James Kingston is a British man who has earned himself a reputation for being a bit of a daredevil by climbing buildings and towers in urban settings, filming his exploits, and posting the clips to YouTube. In this case, he captured his climb to the top of a 101-story building in Dubai that is the tallest residential structure in the world. As you can imagine, the ascent is a vertigo inducing affair, and it goes without saying that you shouldn't try this yourself at home. It is awfully fun to watch though.

Video: Danny MacAskill Takes Us on a Crazy Ride Through an Urban Setting

Mountain biker Danny MacAskill is up to his old tricks in this latest video. We've seen him ride through some incredible settings in the past, including along knife edge ridges in his home country of Scotland. This time out, he takes his bike along an equally perilous course, crossing the rooftops of buildings in a town in the Canary Islands. Colorful and bright, the city makes a great backdrop for Danny's antics, but of course he takes his bike to places most of us would never even consider. The results are once again impressive and scary at the same time. Warning: your heart rate may increase dramatically at times.

Video: British Daredevil Scales Eiffel Tower

We've seen some impressive feats of urban climbing before, but this one ranks up there with the best of them. The video was self-shot by a British photographer/daredevil named James Kingston, who recently went to great lengths to climb the Eiffel Tower, going so far as to sneak past guards at 1 AM to begin his climb. This five-minute clip will take you up the tower with him, providing some pretty scary moments along the way.

Video: Urban Adventurers Scale 660 Meter Tall Shenzhen Tower in

While we often marvel at the efforts of climbers who go up a sheer rock race, there are so impressive climbs being done in urban environments as well. Take for example the one shown in this video, during which a couple of daring urban adventurers scale the 660 meter (2165 ft) tall Shenzhen Tower in China. While this is certainly a very different climb from what we're use to seeing, it is none the less a challenging feat to reach the top of this building in what is certainly an illegal manner. The views from the top are pretty impressive though, and while I wouldn't necessarily condone these types of activities, I can respect those who do them, and bring us great video footage of their efforts.

Video: The Winning Run at the Valparaiso Urban Mountain Bike Race

A few days back I shared a video of a pro-rider racing through the streets of Valparaiso, Chile as part of the urban downhill race that is held there each year. The course for the race includes some unexpected obstacles, including stairs, narrow streets, jumps, ramps, and a variety of other challenges. This video, which comes our way courtesy of EpicTV, is the winning run that posted by Filip Polc who had his GoPro camera on the entire way. Needless to say, it is a quite the clip, and not for the faint of heart.

Video: Downhill Urban Mountain Bike Racing in Valparaiso, Chile

One of the more insane urban mountain bike races that takes part on an annual basis is held in Valparaiso, Chile where pro-riders race through the streets on a narrow course that includes stairs, ramps, banks, and other obstacles that have to be seen to be believed. The video below was shot on that wild course over the past weekend, and gives viewers a very intense view of what it is like to ride   this event. The narrow route looks difficult enough, but when you add in screaming fans just a few feet away, it gets even more intense. This is one mountain biking route I'm more than happy to watch on video and not try to ride myself. Crazy stuff!

Video: Downhill Urban Mountain Biking in Colombia

I always love a good mountain biking video, especially ones that show a rider zipping through some unbelievable setting. But I also have a soft spot for videos like this one, where some of the world's top riders take on an urban course lined with fans as they ride down stairs, across cobblestone streets, in and around buildings, and other unusual obstacles. In this case, we follow World Cup rider Marcelo Gutierrez as he bombs his way through the streets of his hometown of Manizales, Colombia. As you'll see, the ride is a wild one, even though it goes directly through the heart of the city.

Video: Urban Mountain Biking in San Francisco

Here's a cool video that should inspire more of us to get out and ride more regularly. It follows Karl Johnson, an engineer at Mission Motors in San Francisco, as he goes for a bike ride within the city confines. Karl rides his bike to work every day, and as this video shows, he doesn't have to stay confined to just the busy city streets. It is a good reminder that there are often very interesting places to ride all around us, we just have to take the time to look.

Video: Red Bull District Ride Germany Course Preview

Downhill urban mountain biking feature some of the craziest tracks you'll ever see. Take for instance the one shown in the video below. It is a preview of the Red Bull District Ride held in Nuremberg, Germany last weekend. In the clip, riders Aaron Chase and Yannick Granieri take us through the course ahead of the start of the race. It includes some massive jumps that will make your stomach drop just watching them on the video. There are also some great obstacle, and even a finishing ride down a major ramp that must first be accessed by taking an elevator to the top of a building. It definitely needs to be seen to be believed. Don't try this at home kids.
