Video: Exploring Utah with Ace and His Desert Dog

Last year, Ace Kvale turned 60 and to celebrate, he planned a 60 day journey through Utah's wonderful canyon country with his dog, a ten-year old Australian Blue Heeler named Genghis Kahn. Other friends came and went throughout the hike, but Genghis stayed with him the entire way. Their story is told brilliantly in this video, which reminds us why our favorite adventure dogs are definitely man's best friend.

Video: Mountain Biking the American Southwest with Yeti Cycles

It's no secret that the American Southwest offer some of the best mountain biking found anywhere on the planet. That doesn't make this video any less impressive however. It is a spectacularly shout short film that takes us to some of the most amazing landscapes you'll ever see. This video was shot by Yeti Cycles, who were also kind enough to share the secrets of that ride with us here. It'll probably come as now surprise that parts of the video were shot near Moab, with Canyonlands and Sedona also making an appearance. If you're a mountain biking fan, don't pass on this clip.

Video: The Story of Place - A Journey Through Canyonlands

As we head into the weekend, this is the short film I want to close out the day on. It is an amazing video that takes us into the heart of the Greater Canyonlands region of Utah, to explore that amazing setting, while also showing us the threats that now face that iconic place. This area is not part of Canyonlands National Park, and is unprotected. Outside interests are looking to exploit the land there, while the good people at Our Canyon Lands work hard to preserve these landscapes. Truly an important story, and one that needs to be shared.

Video: A Line in the Sand

This video comes our way from Our Canyon Lands, a nonprofit that is working to preserve and protect the public lands of the American West, particularly those around Canyonlands National Park in Utah, which is one of the most spectacular wilderness areas in all of North America. The stylized animation that make up this clip help to deliver the message that public lands are being threatened by outside interests, and unless something is done, we could use lose some amazing wilderness areas. While the imagery is definitely dramatic, and a bit over the top, it still hammers home the point. We must do something to ensure that these lands exist for future generations to enjoy too. We must draw a line in the sand.

Video: A Timelapse Journey Through the American Southwest

Let's kickoff the weekend in style. This video, shot entirely in the American Southwest, captures the landscapes of that region in amazing fashion. The beautiful settings, including the Grand Canyon, as well as Bryce, Zion, and Canyonalands National Parks, are almost hypnotic. If you haven't been to this part of the U.S., you need to make it a priority to get there soon.
