18th World Knowledge Forum to be held in S Korea

Viet Nam News. SEOUL —Some 250 well-known figures from around the world will gather at the 18th World Knowledge Forum next month to share their knowledge and insights on a wide range of global issues. The personalities will include Ban Ki-moon, former secretary general of the United Nations; Francois Hollande, former French president; Hillary Rodham Clinton, former US secretary of state; and Oliver Hart, 2016 Nobel laureate in economics.

Numerous global entrepreneurs, including Zhang Ya-Qin, president of Baidu; Russell Stokes, CEO of GE Power; and Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group; will also attend and share insights and visions of the world’s leading corporations and companies at the cusp of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The annual forum, themed “Inflection Point: Towards New Prosperity.", will take place from October 17 to19 at the Jangchung Arena and The Shilla hotel in Seoul, and is expected to attract more than 3,000 people

Hosted by South Korea’s largest business media group Maekyung, it will offer audiences seven tracks consisting of more than 105 sessions discussing numerous key issues, including global leadership, global economy, the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Asian unity. Since its inception in 2000 after the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the forum has grown into the largest business forum in Asia. Several world-renowned figures have been invited as speakers, including former US president George W Bush, former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, former Japan prime minister Hatoyama Yukio and co-founder of Microsoft Bill Gates. — VNS
